Dear Colleague Collections Australia Network (CAN)is pleased to announce that it will be running a series of user-training workshops for collecting institutions within the broader Sydney (and adjoining) region. The workshops, which are part of CAN's nationwide Outreach programme, are designed to help you become proficient at using CAN's many self-publishing (and promotional) capabilities. Unlike its predecessor, AMOL (Australian Museums and Galleries Online), CAN Partners are now able to easily create and modify their own online content. Perhaps you want to create a webpage (which CAN will host on your behalf, at no cost), digitise your collection records using our online CMS (collection management system), store a duplicate of your collection database offsite, learn how to research and write a significance statement, promote a forthcoming event or exhibition, make your collection records available for online public searching, or simply keep abreast of developments elsewhere within your region, or throughout Australia. It's likely, whatever your requirements, that CAN will have something of interest to offer. 3 training workshops have been scheduled for Sydney: Tuesday 11 October: 1:30pm - 4:30pm Wednesday 12 October: 1:30pm - 4:30pm Saturday 15 October: 10:15am - 1:15pm The venue is the VectorLab at the Powerhouse Museum - Harris Street Ultimo, Sydney. There is a map and directions to the Powerhouse at View Attachment In your response to this email could you please include the following details: - Name of your institution - Number of participants from your institution - A contact telephone number - Parking is available at the Entertainment carpark in Darling Harbour for $9 all day (bring your ticket to the museum for validation). The museum has facilities for disabled parking, so let me know if you require a booking. We look forward to meeting you at the workshops. If you have any questions regarding the training or any aspect of CAN, you can contact me on the details listed below.
