Carved Wardrobe - Circa 1890's</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#0000ff></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#0000ff>My name is Janet Hoddinett and it

Trust.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV>It is regarding a large, engraved wardrobe that my elderly mother would
like to donate, if appropriate, to an historic house or museum.</DIV>
<DIV>This magnificent wardrobe has been stored in my garage for 17 years!
My sister has the remaining pieces, but the wardrobe is too high and too
impractical for modern use.</DIV>
<DIV>My mother knows that the wardrobe was bought from Anthony
Horderns, she believes in the late 1890's, by her grandparents. Her
grandfather was A.G. Crump, who was Mayor of Balmain for about 14 years in the
early 1900's.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The wardrobe is stained a walnut,or slightly mahogany colour. We are
unsure of the timber, which is pale. It stands very tall with
an engraved top piece, has bevelled mirrors, two cupboards, centre drawers with
smaller cupboards - and a "secret drawer". My mother had the wardrobe
valued (it would be 18+ years ago) and believes it was valued at about
$3000 at the time.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Dimensions:</DIV>
<DIV>Height approx 7'6" or
2300mm (we cannot put full top piece in place in our garage)</DIV>
<DIV>Width
6'7" or 2000mm</DIV>
<DIV>Depth
2'2" or 660 mm</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I have attached some photographs:</DIV>
<DIV>Two were taken before the wardrobe was stored and show the full height and
engraving. I have taken two more, one to show the inside hooks in the
cupboards and another to show the wardrobe now. It's storage location
makes it very difficult to take photographs. This photo shows that there
are some scratches on the right hand end of wardrobe.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>My mother would love to see this wardrobe go to a place where it will be
appreciated. </DIV>
<DIV>Please contact me if you are interested, or would like to come and see the
wardrobe. If not, I would be grateful for any other suggestions. If
the photos are too big, I can resend in a smaller size.</DIV>
<DIV>Thank you for your time</DIV>
