Dear Eleanor (and CAN-talk colleagues), You might be interested in a UK-wide consultation on Sustainability which our Museums Association has just completed over here. Their report of the work is at: http://www.museumsassociation.org/sustainability Out of interest - one of that hardest parts of the consultation was nailing the definition of 'Sustainability'. The work is now being followed up with a series of projects looking at: - The environmental impact of Collections standards - The economic impact of Cultural services - The political sustainability of a Cultural offer With best regards, Nick Nick Poole Chief Executive Collections Trust -----Original Message----- From: can-talk-bounces at collectionsaustralia.net.au [mailto:can-talk-bounces at collectionsaustralia.net.au] On Behalf Of Eleanor Adams Sent: 13 May 2009 07:39 To: can-talk at collectionsaustralia.net.au Subject: [can-talk] Sustainability in the Collections Sector Dear CAN-talk Subscribers, I am seeking to answer the question: How many Australian collecting institutions measure or report on their sustainability and what factors or model do they use? If your institution measures or reports on sustainability in some way, or if not for a particular reason, I would like to hear from you. I am currently researching indicators of sustainability for museums as a part of a Masters in Museum and Curatorial Studies and the University of Adelaide in conjunction with the Collections Council of Australia. For more information on the project see the entry on the Collections Council website at http://www.collectionscouncil.com.au/sustainability+reporting+indicators.aspx Thank you, Eleanor Adams _______________________________________________________________ You are subscribed to the can-talk mailing list: can-talk at collectionsaustralia.net.au To manage your options or unsubscribe visit: http://lists.collectionsaustralia.net.au/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/can-talk _______________________________________________________________ Discussion list postings are not endorsed by the CAN Coordination Unit, the Cultural Ministers Council, nor the Australian Government. _______________________________________________________________ |
