Hi Roy Mosaic is often used for small volunteer run museum collection management. It would be worth checking their website. We are an Army regimental museum (aka unit history room). We have a few thousand objects, documents, books , diaries, files, photos, CD's etc. The usual range of museum stuff. It is a 4-volunteer operation, but when we write data entry procedures we can get people to assist with this. In a previous structure we issued with EMUlite, an Army adaptation of EMU software. We are no longer required to stay with this software, and we had not got very far into entering data anyway. We need to select some suitable software to catalogue the collection. I would welcome any feed back from museum folk about their experiences and recommendations From what I have able to gather, the systems of choice with museums seem to be Mosaic, EMU, Maxus and Pastperfect. Being a fairly small operation we would not need a Rolls Royce program suitable for the British Museum Thanks Roy Arnott Curator 4th/19th Prince of Wales's Light Horse Regiment Unit History Room _______________________________________________________________ You are subscribed to the can-talk mailing list: can-talk at collectionsaustralia.net.au To manage your options or unsubscribe visit: http://lists.collectionsaustralia.net.au/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/can-ta lk _______________________________________________________________ Discussion list postings are not endorsed by the CAN Coordination Unit, the Cultural Ministers Council, nor the Australian Government. _______________________________________________________________ |
