We are with the Cooktown Historical Society, and have been approached by the local council about a large printing press they have in storage in a shed which is now required for another use. The machine is a Mergenthaler Linotype MIcro Therm Electric. After some research we believe that is a model produced in 1941. It is possible that it came from the Cooktown Independant Newspaper which closed c 1942, but no proof on this. We have no use for it and nowhere to house it and was wondering if there was a printing museum who may be interested in it. The only problem is it is in Cooktown in North Queensland, but if a museum wants it they can come and get it, its free. The machine is in a reasonably poor state, but with some attention could look presentable. Hope you may be able to assist, contact through us please historical_society at cooktowns.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
