Dear Can-talkers, Tired of the dismal economic news? Like to escape to some exotic places and visit and talk about museums? Well, why not join us in our joint venture with Mahidol University (Thailand) and attend the innaugural Asia Pacific Museology Congress in October this year? Conference web site is at:- http://www.geocities.com/apmc_2009/ We are currently seeking abstracts for potential oral and poster presentations (until June 15). You can find the broad list of conference themes here: http://www.geocities.com/apmc_2009/themes.htm Conference costs are under $400AUD and even cheaper for students. You can find the first circular and a conference brochure here:- http://www.geocities.com/apmc_2009/circular.htm As you will see from the site we have an ambitious program of associated tours and are seeking expressions of interest from potential participants (costs for excursions will be finalised and posted soon). You can indicate your interest in these trips by filling out the pre-registration form (http://www.geocities.com/apmc_2009/pre-registration.htm) and returning it before mid April. If you are in Sydney and would like to find out more about one of the associated tours, why not attend the free public talk on the "Ancient Religious Cultures of the Silk Road" by Dr Ken Parry at Macquarie University on April 2, you can find your invitation here:- http://www.geocities.com/apmc_2009/pdf/kenparry_silkroad.pdf Contact the conference secretariat for more information at 2009apmc at gmail.com Cheers Andrew Andrew Simpson Director, Museum Studies Program Department of Environment and Geography Faculty of Science Macquarie University NSW 2109 ph (61 2) 98508183 fax (61 2) 98509671 email: asimpson at els.mq.edu.au http://www.museums.mq.edu.au http://www.els.mq.edu.au/museumstudies "The economy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the environment" |
