Rebecca Pinchin, Regional Museums Coordinator, Powerhouse Museum, suggested that I get in touch with the Collections Australia e- list as the best way to present our offer to regional museums. The Commonwealth Bank Archives holds a number of similar items from the Rural Bank of New South Wales. The Rural Bank was established in 1932, renamed the State Bank of New South Wales in 1981 and was finally acquired by Colonial Limited in 1994. As a result of the Colonial Ltd merger in 2000 the Commonwealth Bank Archives acquired both the Colonial Archives and the Rural Bank of New South Wales Archives.

We have kept half a dozen of the items for our Archives but we are trying to dispose of the dozen or so remaining items. These items are painted metal Government of New South Wales crests, (used as the crest for the Rural Bank of New South Wales), both small and large, which we are offering to interested parties. We believe that the crests were used for display purposes in agricultural shows and other shows. The items are generic and do not include signage of any particular town. The large crests are 51cm length x 33 cm height and the small crests 38cm length x 25 cm height. We believe that these crests may be of interest to smaller regional museums in New South Wales whose towns may have had a Rural Bank of New South Wales presence.
