Excerpt from latest CAN Outreach blog: By starting an online dialogue, museums can take the lead role in the community as builder, shaper and connector. The online and on-site communities need to work together to transform the museum's traditional spaces into places where dialogue and education can occur. Here vital links between cultures and social groups can be formed, placing small cultural institutions at the centre of a community. CAN's Outreach blog is developing momentum. It has a list of posts open for discussion on how new trends in digital media can promote our collections online. We encourage an energetic exchange of ideas. Our aim is to build a supportive community who are not only keen to adopt innovative strategies but enjoy sharing their ideas. If anyone would like to bring their own topics to CAN Outreach, please email Sarah Rhodes at enquiries at collectionsaustralia.net. To subscribe to CAN Outreach, look for that lovely orange icon above the CAN logo on the right hands side of the blog www.collectionsaustralia.net/publisher/Outreach. That's an RSS logo, and it means that you can subscribe to the RSS feed from this blog so you don't have to keep checking back for updates, you will get a summary of each entry sent to you. To view subscribe to an rss feed, you'll need to use an rss reader or aggregator. These can be desktop or web based. The major online services like Yahoo and Google who you may already use for email offer web based rss readers, Internet Explorer 7 has one, and there are plugins for the Firefox web browser. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
