Hi all, We have a small badge in our collection, roughly in the shape of a ship's wheel, with a crown with the number '46' attached to it. It is only 30mm in diameter. Four of the lugs around the edge are bent down and five are bent up. Our site was a school and church from 1862 to 1979, boarding house for men in the 1880s and 1890s, then police quarters and police station from 1898 to 1973. The badge was found under the floorboards during work on the building in the 1980s. Does anyone have any suggestions for identifying this badge?
