Nau mai, haere mai ki Rotorua.

Rotorua Museum is honoured to host this important gathering of
colleagues from around the world and I cannot think of a more
appropriate location than Rotorua, the centre of tourism in New Zealand,
for a conference addressing the themes of Museums, Tourism and Visitor
Experience. From the earliest European arrivals visitors from around the
world have marvelled at the geothermal and cultural wonders of this area
and today we welcome over 2.5 million visitors a year.

It will provide the opportunity for the museum sector to engage with the
tourism sector and enable both to learn more about each other and about
the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities of being involved in
cultural tourism. Outstanding keynote speakers have been invited to
share their perspectives and experiences while workshop sessions will
enable smaller groups to discuss ideas and issues in a less formal
environment.

The conference will be held in Rotorua, NZ from 24-28 November 2008 -
see the website for more information -
