Dear Colleague, The Collections Council of Australia is producing a second edition of the publication Significance: A <http://www.collectionsaustralia.net/sector_info_item/5> guide to assessing the significance of cultural heritage objects and collections (2001). The book was well received by museums and galleries both in Australia and overseas and its significance assessment methodology has been effectively used by collecting organisations to determine priorities for their collections. The second edition, titled Significance 2.0, is intended to incorporate refinements in the methodology, to extend its relevance from museums and galleries to archives and libraries, and to update references. Significance 2.0 will be available in print and online publication forms in December 2008. In April, a Significance 2.0 workshop was held to help guide revision of the book. A number of the papers presented at the Workshop are now available for viewing on the Collections Council's website by clicking HERE <http://www.collectionscouncil.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=563> . We invite you to comment and/or rate individual articles, or to provide more general feedback to the Significance 2.0 Project Team. We also encourage you to forward this message to other colleagues who may be interested in the subjects of movable cultural heritage significance assessment, or the convergence of collecting domains.
