Hello I'm wondering if anyone has information about how to access very high picture rails without having people working inappropriately on ladders or scaffolding over the allowable OHS height of 2 metres. In our community centre foyer gallery we have a picture rail which is 5 metres from the floor. It cannot be lowered and repositioned as it is in sections above various doorways/hallways that lead into the foyer, so the actual wall space is only the height above the doorway to the picture rail (about 2 metres). The wall space above the doorways make up a significant amount of the overall foyer hanging space so we don't want to loose them. We are able to purchase equipment and are aware that major galleries use scissor lifts, however this would seem to be an expensive option for us as a starting point. I'm just wondering if other small galleries have encountered this same problem and what solutions may have been used. I have been sent some information about a product distributed from the UK which is a picture rail system that is a Special "Pully" type system letting you position your pictures then raise them up to those hard to reach places normally only accessible by a stool or ladder. I would also be interested to know if anyone has used this system or knows about it. Any information is gratefully received.
