Hi All I went to the WA Museum metal conservation workshop last week (it was excellent) but can't seem to find in the notes about diluting tannic acid for rust conversion/prevention. I get the feeling that it was soluble in water, methylated spirits but not petroleum based products like white spirits. Can anyone out there confirm that for me? I am also looking for the 'recipe' for its dilution. (how many gms/teaspoons per ml/cups of fluid) I would prefer not to dilute it in water given that I am trying to prevent water based rust.
