I, too, am glad that Merle raised this question! I am very new at the collections management game and when I joined can- talk a couple of years ago the debate about whether or not people should discuss 'trivia' seemed to be raging. Things certainly went quiet after the rules were tightened up. For me, the 'trivia' is just as meaningful as the more serious discussions, which seem to have been few and far between over the last year or so. So if we go back to an open-slather approach and the mail becomes too much to handle from time to time, I guess I can set up a rule to move everything into a can-talk folder or just hit the delete button. I'm happy to see the separate mailing lists continue but I'm happy to see more mail on this one.
