Linda, I hope you didn't think I was having a go at either of those objects! I was just trying to make a point. I love museums in all their forms.

You know, I don't think it matters about "professional" vs. "volunteer". Some of us are lucky enough to have a budget. But we are all working our butts off to make our own museums the best possible places, and it's good to hear from everyone.

  Writing as the one who has dared to mention doilies on list, and who is quite proud of our large collection of farm machinery, I am sure that the other volunteers with whom I work would be delighted to find somewhere where they felt welcome to discuss matters they felt relevant to them.

  It would be interesting to know the breakdown of the list, although I guess that sort of data isn't available. Is it possible, Joy, to have some sort of poll as to volunteer versus professional membership of the list? It would be interesting to know. And how does one define "professional" anyway?

  Maybe I am in the wrong place?
