"Working Museum of Typography and Printing"
Dear Museum Colleagues,
PRINTING MUSEUM ON THE WIRELESS
0830 today - too late!
2005 tonight - try for it
or podcast
TO FIND YOUR "RADIO NATIONAL" STATION go to:
<http://www.abc.net.au/rn/freq/>
The ABC "Media Report" presenter visited this Museum
late last year and today THURSDAY 14 FEB 2008 presented
a great 8 minute segment on the Museum.
The Media Report goes to air at 0830 Thursdays and is
repeated after the news at 2000. Podcast and tran-
script also available after the event, so you will
still be able to hear it by going to the Media Report
website.
The item covered the Museum's history and its activities,
and something of the history of typesetting and printing.
Also mentioned were the perennial problems arising from
having a large collection and no funding.
Voices heard are:
Antony Funnell (presenter),
Laurie Harding (Museum volunteer) and
Michael Isaachsen (Museum Curator, yours truly).
There are sound effects of the Linotype machinery.
SPECIAL PAGE ON OUR WEBSITE
We have prepared a web page for this program which give
some photos of Museum activities and equipment.

..>> NOTE: This page will be added to (it was done in a
bit of a hurry and there is more material available).
WELCOME TO THE MUSEUM !
Home page: <www.PrintingMuseums.com/melbourne/>
We at the Museum are hoping to see you here this year.
Hundreds of design students and their teachers attended
in 2007, along with dozens of artists who used our hand
typesetting and hand printing for lots of eye-catching
work.
You can see these activities on our "GSW" web page:
<www.PrintingMuseums.com/museum/program/educ/students.htm>
[Note: all links in this message are also on our homepage.]
For viability the Museum needs your support, even if
you cannot actually attend.
Your support could be in helping us to shape our offering
to the needs of today's students and artists, or in talking
about the Museum and its programs and its needs to others.
Our Museum is located near the City, just a few minutes
on the train or direct bus. SEE OUR MAP and directions at:
<www.PrintingMuseums.com/museum/about/contact.htm>
PUBLIC DAYS
We are open to the public on Sundays and Thursdays from
2 to 6 p.m.. We are closed to the public for a while
over Christmas, but you will be able to attend by
appointment. See our "public program" page:
