Forgot to say that the cameras also record 24 hours & display to screens at reception and in my office. The tapes are taped over on a weekly basis. It's an easy system to use but has probably been superseded now with better models.

We installed security cameras when we refurbished in 1998/9. Our building is a 1930s heritage one, but the cameras are almost invisible - either white or black small hemispheres with cameras inside. Quite discreet, and we forget they are there usually.

But they are useful in keeping track of where people are in the gallery, particularly potentially naughty boys! I am glad we went for the more expensive option of colour as it helps in quickly identifying the area and the person. Ours are attached to 24 surveillance, and they have been particularly useful in identifying boys who have been up to no good in the adjoining Town Hall.

    Hi all,

I am hoping someone can help me - I am investigating security cameras for
the Homestead at Bundanon. We already have a back to base security system
but it has been decided to install security cameras as well.

Bundanon Homestead is an 1866 Georgian 2 storey house with two storey
verandah at front. It is made primarily of sandstone and cedar and stands in
close proximity to a 1840s kitchen and servants quarters all of which is in
fairly constant use by staff and visitors. Arthur Boyd's 1981 studio is also
in the grounds at the other end of the garden. This too would require
    cameras.

I am reluctant to install them internally and so am hoping that exterior
cameras will be sufficient for all the above mentioned buildings.

    My questions are:

    1. What sort of cameras should I be looking for?
    2. Who are the best suppliers (Sydney/ACT/Illawarra)?
    3. What other support is required in terms of power supply, PC/monitor,
    etc
    4. What triumphs and/or difficulties have people experienced in
installation and continued use of security cameras in and around historic
    houses
    5. Any ideas on costs would also be welcome.

Many thanks and I look forward to your feedback

    Cheers

    Jennifer
