National Museum of Australia
Collections Symposium 2009
'Collections and Exhibitions'
National Museum of Australia, Canberra, 27 March 2009

Colleagues
The National Museum of Australia is continuing its tradition of holding an annual 'Collections Symposium', which will bring together museum scholars, students and professionals to discuss the nature and uses of museum collections. Previous symposia have considered the history of the National Museum's collections and the developing field of 'material histories'.

We are eager to encourage a wide range of speakers presenting papers exploring the relationships between collections and their use in exhibitions, and we invite you to respond to the attached call for papers.

Even if you are not inclined to offer a paper, we draw your attention to the 2009 Collections Symposium and extend a warm invitation to you to attend. We would like to draw to the attention of those supervising students that we will again hope to offer a number of student bursaries to enable museum studies students to participate.

Please address proposals for papers to Guy and queries about assistance to Peter. We look forward to seeing you in Canberra next March. Our website will be updated regularly with further information: www.nma.gov.au
