We have a very sophisticated system - the students leave their bags etc on the floor of the passage leading to the coffee area! One of the delights of a non-purpose-built gallery. In Norway I saw a lovely idea at the Children's Museum in Oslo - it's in a large house and on the ground floor there are racks and hangers with a picture on each - I suppose to help the littlies find their things.
