Item for Can-Talk:

URGENT: ABC Radio National is waiting to hear your program content ideas for
Museums Week (soon, in May).

This is an appeal to all our colleagues. It is about getting museum-related
stories quickly proposed for program producers across-the-board within ABC
Radio National in May (for a "Museums Week" theme, 18-24 May 08).

(You can propose your content ideas by going straight into an MA-prepared
catchment survey - see link below)

An invitation is issued to ALL museums to propose content (museum stories)
for the forthcoming MA-ABC Radio National Partnership.

CAN readers are urged to respond to MA's invitation to propose "good
museum-related content" for possible uptake by producers (all programs) in a
"Museums Week" emphasis in programming on ABC-RN.

This was negotiated by Museums Australia as part of an MA-ABC RN partnership
venture in 2008, but it is a sector-wide opportunity for all to seek benefit
in its implementation. MA is not restricting this opportunity to its
members or member-museums. It is an offer for the whole museums/galleries
sector to share.

You are urged not to miss this opportunity for your immediate involvement
and imaginative responses to content opportunities across a week of RN
programming.

What are the possibilities you can define for our survey to capture and
relay to the ABC on behalf of our sector? Please tell us what you know about
the most...
.	exciting stories
.	brilliant peoples' work in and around museums
.	inspiring cases of community involvement in re-shaping how museums
serve their audiences
.	innovative public programs
.	undiscovered collection resources
.	groundbreaking research
.	innovative exhibitions
.	inspiring field-work
.	best community partnerships
.	educational projects
.	digital and ICT developments
.	and public engagement ideas that museums and galleries are
delivering that add real value to our communities (nationally and
internationally; and at grass-roots remote and regional levels)

The strength of what the ABC is now offering Museums Australia and our
sector is an opportunity MUSEUMS PEOPLE MUST NOT FAIL TO TAKE UP -- and
SOON.

Please help by filling in the no-fuss, program-specific survey MA National
Office has prepared. (All the Radio National program names are listed - you
can check them further on the ABC RN website.) ABC RN Program Producers
want to hear what good ideas you all have for their attention.
