Good morning, all Our organisation has two old type cabinets containing wood and metal type that we would like to make ready for display. These will be located in an area where there is ready access by students and members of the public. The printing staff would like to be able to show them to students as part of their training so they will be accessed a few times per year. It has been suggested to me that we should have each drawer covered in perspex and the units themselves should be made lockable. I have some concerns about damaging the integrity of the object here, once we start drilling and putting in screws and locks etc. Also, I don't think there is much space between the top of each drawer and the case frame. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could approach this, or any examples of the treatment of similar pieces of furniture? I'd really appreciate some ideas.
