Hi All,

This a request for some help / advice. I have been employed by a museum
that has only recently moved from being purely volunteer managed to
professionally managed. This change has been rather difficult, and at
present I feel I am reporting to 2 bosses, my paid employers (who aren't
museum people) and the committee of friends (the previous volunteers).

I am wondering how other museum friends organisations are structured. I am
wanting to try and suggest a restructure, so that the 'Friends' begin to
operate a bit more independently of the museum and actually arrange social
functions, fundraisers etc for themselves, rather than everything being done
by the museum (ie. me).

If you have a constitution, rules or just some suggestions about other
friends groups I'd love to hear it. The more information I can present to
my boss the better the chance is that he will understand why this is
frustrating me and limiting the possibilities of both the friends and the
museum.

Thanks for your help.

Bronwyn
