CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

 

The Collections Council of Australia Ltd is preparing to launch a
Conservation / Preservation Showcase in response to recommendations made in
the Conservation Survey 2006 Report. The Report is available here:

The purpose of the Showcase is to raise awareness about the field of
conservation / preservation in Australia, both within the collections sector
and in the broader community. As with all Collections Council projects, we
aim for representation across the four major collecting domains - archives,
galleries, libraries and museums. Examples from historical societies,
indigenous keeping places and conservation businesses are also welcomed.

 

The Conservation / Preservation Showcase has three strands:

 

1)      career case studies supplied by individuals currently working in the
field;

2)      project case studies supplied by organisations photo-documenting
conservation / preservation treatments and decision-making;

3)      education / training and employment references.

 

The Conservation / Preservation Showcase will be launched on 1 February 2007
on the Collections Council website, but is envisaged as an evolving resource
that will, over time, more fully represent the many facets of work in the
field of Australian conservation / preservation.

 

You are invited to contact Development Officer, Veronica Bullock, to express
your interest in participating in the Showcase, or to provide feedback on
the prototype Showcase page from 1 February 2007.

 

At this stage, suggestions of links to well organised and attractive
conservation and / or preservation project web pages are particularly
sought. Examples may include video or still images of conservation
treatments with commentary, or even 'behind-the-scene' collecting
organisation tours which take in conservation / preservation facilities.
