Dear can-talkers, The Lambing Flat Folk Museum in Young has two items that I would like to know more about. The items are two large green glass (I think) balls, similar to old-style Christmas ornaments but much larger (around 26cms in diameter). There is no information on them in the museum records, although anecdotally it is believed that they were used outside a Chinese shop or similar in Young. They can be hung from a wire at the top and the glass is a shiny metallic grass green. We are currently working on an exhibition about the Lambing Flat goldfields and would like to use these objects if they are relevant although I suspect they are very much more recent. However any info would help. Many thanks, Linda Raymond museum consultant & interpretation specialist 0404 211 724 lindaraymond at ozemail.com.au |
