To all heritage/museum researchers: Having put in what I thought was two penn'orth of comment to a CHASS submission on RFCD codes representing heritage and museums, I have been asked by the ABS to circulate the heritage/museum research community with the following material for comment and suggestion re revising the ASRC classification codes. They require a progress report by 18 May and a final report by 13 June. The classification is scheduled to be completed by December 2007 and released in March 2008. It is a join Aust-NZ code; hence new references to Maori heritage etc. We are invited to suggest new and/or better topics to describe the outcomes of the kind of research we do. This message concerns the Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) classification; another about the RSCD classification will be along shortly. The difference between them is defined thus: the SEO classifies outcomes; the RFCD classifies process. Question: are there more or better ways to describe the socio-economic outcomes of your research?
