FIELDS OF MEMORIES: THE SCHEYVILLE TRAINING FARM AND MIGRANT
ACCOMMODATION CENTRE 1911-1964

Scheyville National Park, in north-west Sydney, was the location of an
agricultural training farm for English child migrants in the early 20th
century, and later a migrant accommodation centre after the Second World
War. Discover its rich history covering two major periods of Australian
nation-building:

Online exhibition produced by the NSW Migration Heritage Centre in
partnership with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Department
of Environment and Conservation (NSW) with support from Powerhouse
Museum Regional Services and the State Records Authority of NSW.

 

 

'FROM ESTONIA TO THIRLMERE' 

Thirlmere's Estonians, who worked in the New South Wales poultry
industry from 1927 to 1967, recall surviving war, adapting to 'Displaced
Persons' camp life, journeying to Australia and their experiences of
settling and farming.

An exhibition at the Wollondilly Heritage Centre developed by The Oaks
Historical Society with assistance from the NSW Migration Heritage
Centre and Powerhouse Museum Regional Services, also in partnership with
Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils Ltd, Arts NSW, Museums
and Galleries NSW, Thirlmere Estonian Society Inc. "KOIT", The Estonian
Archives, Sydney and the Wollondilly Shire Council.
