QLD Standards Pilot 2007 - Far North Qld

Information Session - Cairns 1st November

IN BRIEF
What: Standards 2007 Information Session
When: Wed 1 November
Time: 11:30am - 3:30pm
Where: Community Meeting Room, Cairns City Library (Cnr. Abbott & Aplin
Streets)
Who can attend: Representatives of museums from Far North Qld interested in
being involved in Standards 2007

M&GSQ would like to offer museums in the Far North Queensland area the
opportunity to participate in the 2007 Standards Program. This voluntary
program helps museums to recognise their achievements, improve their
practice and raise their profile.

2007 will be the third year of a very successful Queensland pilot project,
STANDARDS PROGRAM: SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY MUSEUMS.

An information session will be held in Cairns on Wednesday, 1 November from
11:30am to 3:30pm in the Community Meeting Room, Cairns City Library (Cnr.
Abbott & Aplin Streets) for all interested parties.

This voluntary program helps museums to recognise their achievements,
improve their practice and raise their profile. Working with a set of
minimum standards, museums review their own practice while drawing on
support and advice from M&GSQ, regional colleagues and an experienced
committee of peers.

Museums that participate in this 'ground breaking' project will be leading
the way for community museums throughout Queensland, and assisting M&GSQ to
ensure that any future standards program meets a broad range of needs.
Participation is a significant commitment that will be highly valued by
M&GSQ and promoted in their communities.

M&GSQ will be working closely with the Museum Development Officer based in
Cairns, Maria Friend, on this pilot program.
