Collections Australia Network is pleased to announce that the new-look,
new-feel Collections Australia Network (CAN) website is now online.  We have
been working hard to improve CAN's performance as Australia's online gateway
to cultural heritage collections, based on the feedback from our Partners
and users.

You'll notice that there are some subtle changes in the layout and
navigation of the site, however all CAN content is still available and
should be easier to find. Partners should also find the new-look CAN Admin
area simplifies the task of maintaining and adding CAN content. The changes
go further than skin deep; the site is now more flexible and robust,
allowing CAN to add new content areas, online tools and resources to the
site. You'll see these coming online in the next few months, particularly in
the Partner area.

CAN provides online exposure, promotional tools, resources and email
discussion lists to over 1500 collecting institutions and organisations
across the country, including libraries, archives, art galleries, museums,
heritage centres and keeping places.  CAN services are free of charge to our
Partners, who must be not-for-profit, publicly accessible collecting
organisations or institutions, and CAN is free for the general public to
access online. 

To our Partners, thank you for your feedback and patience during the
transition period. As always, CAN values your input, so please email us your
comments.  For those Partners with a username and password, we are confident
that you will find updating your content and creating news, events and
exhibition items for CAN more convenient than ever.  If your organisation or
institution is a CAN Partner but does not have username and password, please
contact us at enquiries at collectionsaustralia.net or 02 9217 0347 and we will
arrange one for you.

Some of the URLS (website addresses) to Partner pages and sector info have
changed slightly, so if you have a link to CAN on a website, or a bookmark
to a particular area of CAN, please check it to make sure that it is still
linking correctly.
