For more details on the following vacancies go to www.mca.com.au/employment Curator - Applications close 1st February 2008 This highly sought after position is responsible for the planning, management and implementation of contemporary exhibitions and other projects, assisting in the development of the Museum's collections through exhibition and acquisition, and liaison with guest curators and artists. You will also undertake research in relation to proposed and planned exhibitions and on the MCA's collection. You will have a creative approach to exhibition planning and presentation with a minimum of 3 years curatorial experience. You are comfortable with public speaking and have exceptional communication and project management skills. Knowledge of Australian and international contemporary art and an understanding of the needs of artists and issues surrounding the public presentation of contemporary art are crucial to the role. Assistant Registrar - Applications close 1st February 2008 Reporting to the Registrar, the Assistant Registrar contributes to the management of exhibitions and collections by coordinating the safe movement of artworks locally, nationally and internationally; recommends and implements procedures in relation to packing of artworks for transit and storage, ensures safe handling and care of artworks on display and in transit, as well as coordinating the Museum's program of Outward Loans. You will need at least 3 years previous experience in Museum registration procedures, excellent planning and organisation skills, knowledge of information systems and qualifications in fine art or museum studies. Casual Art Installers - Applications close 1st February 2008 Join our Exhibitions Services team as an Art Installer. Your previous experience installing art work, including safe art handling, gallery preparation, wall preparation and painting, framing and matting, skilled carpentry, gallery lighting, audiovisual technology, crate construction and fit out, and working with a collection is highly sought after.
