Assistant Locations Officer
APS 3 Ongoing                     
Salary from $44,387 to $47,908 per annum plus superannuation.
 
Role
The Registration Section at the National Museum of Australia has the
responsibility for a diverse range of duties related to the physical,
intellectual and legal control of the Museum’s collections and archives,
including loans, transport, storage, collection documentation,
photography and the management of all exhibition related installation,
de-installation and maintenance.
 
As an Assistant Locations Officer you will be part of the larger
Registration team and have responsibility, under direction, for the
Registration functions outlined below.
·         Provide the retrieval, movement and storage of collection
objects, props and crates across Museum sites, ensuring that location
information is updated and accurate.
·         Participate in targeted stocktaking and barcoding of the
Museum collections.
·         Supervise the packing/unpacking of collection material moving
in and out of the Museum.
·         Track objects via the Museum’s barcoding system.
·         Use the Museum’s Collection Management Information Systems
for object information and object location updates, and use other
electronic systems to record and track crates and props.
·         Assist with provision of access to the collection for
internal and external clients.
 
Additional Information
A current Drivers licence would be an advantage. Note the position of
Assistant Locations Officer involves physical activity such as lifting
objects and accessing objects at height.
