Programmer, Information Technology

    * Full-time, Ongoing contract

Melbourne icon and leading cultural institution, the Royal Botanic
Gardens Melbourne, is seeking an experienced and tertiary qualified
Programmer to join our dynamic Information Services Branch.

Your main duties will include: database and web solutions (including
design and implementation to international standards), supporting
scientific needs in Plant Sciences and Biodiversity Division, and
enabling delivery of high quality botanical and horticultural
information and ongoing systems support.

You will have demonstrated experience in at least two programming
languages (either PHP, PERL, VB, JavaScript, or JAVA) as well as in
programming database-driven web applications, and a good knowledge of
database systems (eg MySQL, PostgreSQL, KE Texpress, MS Access).

Knowledge of plant and/or animal taxonomy and systematics as well as
collections management systems will be highly desirable.

Your excellent problem solving and communication skills and ability to
work within a team will ensure your success in this role.
