KickArts Business Development Manager KickArts is seeking to fill this new position that will support KickArts latest venture the new KickArts Printmaking Studio. This is a great opportunity to work with some of Australia¹s leading contemporary artists whilst living in Tropical North Queensland. The Business Development Manager will also work closely with the Director in the establishment, development and delivery of a new business unit the KickArts Centre of Excellence in Printmaking. The Business Development Manager is responsible for: 2.1. KickArts Printmaking Studio Set Up & Ongoing Management · Developing an operational manual for the new KickArts Printmaking Studio. · Developing a business and marketing plan for the new studio. · Developing and maintaining the retail features of an on line sales website · Developing a stock control system for all editions managed by KickArts including storage, recording and dispatch of prints to clients. · Providing effective project management across KickArts Printmaking Studio activities. · Ensuring that full and accurate records are maintained including stock records, print sales and artist payments. · Preparing artists¹ agreements and commissioning documents. · Providing welcoming and professional customer service. · Maintaining accurate database records for all clients and stakeholders. · The technical and building maintenance, structural matters and Operational Safety and Health (OSH) issues of areas of the KickArts Printmaking Studio. · Contributing to research for projects, the development, and implementation of Strategic, Business and Operational Plans · Managing and maintaining the online sales site. 2.2. Education & Professional Development · Coordinate all educational and professional development programs · Liaise with educational institutions on collaborative programs · Coordinate the Artist in Residence program. 2.3. Exhibitions, Loans and Leasing · Developing creative programs with curatorial staff for in house exhibitions and touring exhibitions. · Prepare works for outgoing exhibitions including mounting and framing if required, organising freight arrangements, preparing tour and condition reports and confirming insurance arrangements. · Coordinate the loan of works from the collection for touring exhibitions and leasing. 2.4. Marketing, Promotion & Fundraising · Initiating, developing and overseeing specific events, publications, talks and other public and educational programs and developing new and creative ways of involving new audiences with our program. · Providing written and spoken project briefs with sufficient lead-time for Sponsorship and Marketing project development. · Assisting in the preparation of funding proposals and contribute to the development of fundraising campaigns for specific programs. · Undertaking public speaking on KickArts exhibitions to media, corporate sponsors, private patrons, art students, KickArts Patrons and Members, visitors and the general public. · Liaising with key cultural organisations, commercial galleries, artists and curators and keeping informed about contemporary art practice. Working with a range of regional, remote and national based organisations - some travel will be essential. 2.5. KickArts Collection · Archiving works for the KickArts Collection including documentation records, photographic records, cataloguing, insurance, loans, research inquiries and copyright documentation. 2.6. Accountability · Ensuring all staff have sufficient training and are well-informed of due process during development and implementation all new program delivery areas. · Ensuring appropriate documentation, reporting and evaluation of all projects including timely advice to the Director of matters of importance. 2.7. Authority · Assisting in the development of operating budgets and monitoring and revising budgets as required. · Supervising and mentoring artists and staff. · Working autonomously or as a team member on a day-to-day operational and project basis. · Make recommendations for the preservation and archiving of prints. 2.8. Generally · Being organised and flexible in order to manage ongoing projects and competing deadlines, for routine tasks as well as special activities. · Carrying out other duties within their skill range as determined by the Director. 3. Selection Criteria Skills and Experience Required · A demonstrated commitment to the presentation and promotion of contemporary art including professional integrity and an understanding of the many ways in which contemporary culture can add value to an overall community experience. · A demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise your workload with attention to detail, deliver to deadlines and the financial management and preparation of annual and individual project budgets, including presentation, interpretation and analysis of monthly financial reports. · A demonstrated minimum of 3 years business management experience within a contemporary cultural organisation and/or tertiary qualifications in visual art or fine art/art history or Indigenous art, that includes working with remote indigenous artists and urban contemporary artists and experience with a contemporary art collection through exhibition and acquisition. · Experience in stock management and handling of works of art including storage and display. · Experience in maintaining a website, particularly e-commerce applications. · Demonstrated experience in customer service and dealing with the public. · A demonstrated competency with computer hardware and software especially Microsoft Office Suite and FileMaker Pro 9. · Demonstrated exemplary management communication skills, visual, written and verbal, including public presentation skills, with the ability to prepare and present reports, proposals and supervise and motivate staff. · Knowledge of Australian fine art printmaking industry and of the various printmaking techniques, materials and practices, as well as an understanding of the conservation requirement for the storage, handling and display of works on paper. · A demonstrated ability to work with the corporate and private business sector to generate relationships that lead to sponsorship, philanthropy and partnerships. · Evidence of being a visionary leader and providing support and motivation to artists, other staff and supporters of the organisation, with the ability to develop and foster sustainable high-level contacts and develop long-term industry partners and relationships with artists, individuals and galleries, nationally and internationally. · Demonstrated ability to work closely with a Board Of Directors and to participate in and provide guidance on strategic planning issues appropriate to the organisation. · Previous experience in writing grants and success in seeking sponsorship. · Experience in working with all levels of government and the corporate and private sectors for revenue support. · Tertiary qualifications in any of the following fields are highly desirable: Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art History, Arts Management, Business Management, Marketing. · Current driver¹s licence is required. 4. Key Relationships · Reports to the KickArts Director · Internal liaisons KickArts Board Of Directors, other KickArts staff, Artists, support staff, volunteers and other Centre of Contemporary Arts tenants · External liaisons patrons to the galleries, program participants, all three levels of government officers, industry and business associates, James Cook University and the Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE. 5. Terms of Employment Accountable to the Director for duties associated with KickArts and general performance of duties. Overall accountability is to the KickArts Board of Directors. Employment Conditions The position is a full time position. The appointee is subject to the satisfactory completion of a 6-month probation period. The terms and conditions of employment will be outlined in the KickArts Contract of Employment. The successful applicant will be one experienced in all areas of business development and who is able to support the management of a new stage of development for KickArts and who is committed to supporting and promoting local and regional artists both within Australia and overseas. In addition to exemplary communication and office management skills, the successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in working with a variety of established and emerging artists and will understand and articulate the vision of the organisation at all levels of the community and government. Terms Of The Position Position: Full time 38 hours per week with a 1 hour rest period, 8.30am to 5pm five days per week, with some rostering over weekends in support of the program generally Responsible To: Director Salary: $50,000 to 60,000 in line with current experience, plus standard superannuation Leave · 4 weeks annual leave · 10 days sick leave · Public holidays independent of annual leave · Eight weeks notice required. 6.
