Arts Administrator - Trainee.

This new position offers an entry into working with KickArts, a dynamic
contemporary arts organisation in Tropical North Queensland, studying
certificate lll in Arts Administration.

The Arts Administration Trainee will work closely with the KickArts Business
Development Manager and the KickArts Director in the establishment,
development and delivery of a new business unit the KickArts Centre of
Excellence in Printmaking.
 
The Arts Administration Trainee is responsible for:
·       Providing quality customer service in all areas of the KickArts
program and business generally
·       Responding to patrons and the community in a timely, efficient and
effective manner.
·       Ensuring day to day administrative processes are followed and
directions and request are appropriately actioned.
·       Working towards the goals of the business and marketing plans of the
studio.
·       Striving to deliver the highest standard of study and research as
part of their training.
·       Following established routines, methods and procedures
·       Solving problems by reference to documented procedures, methods and
instructions.
·       A commitment to the presentation and promotion of contemporary art
·       Ability to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the
position in relation to KickArts program of activities.
·       Commitment to participating in the traineeship, including all
modules and electives as they relate to the activities at KickArts.
·       Attending training sessions or supervised workplace activities.
·       Maintaining a record of training such as a training record book and
workplace diary to a high standard and in a timely manner.
·       Attending regular meetings with supervisors and Registered Training
Organisation Representative to discuss progress.
·       Assisting with the daily activities of all program areas.
·       Assisting with the routine reception, telephone and customer
services duties, including providing basic information and assistance to the
public and conducting basic merchandise and artwork sales.
·       Basic word processing, database entries and financial processes
relating to the program.
·       Using a limited degree of initiative and judgment
·       Organising work to meet prescribed priorities.
·       Displaying personal character strengths of trust, respect, integrity
and fairness.
·       Working cooperatively in team environment.
·       Carrying out basic numeracy, written and verbal communication
skills.
 
 
3.            Selection Criteria
 
1.             Year 10 standard education is essential. Year 12 standard of
education is desirable.
 
2.             A current Class ŒC¹ Driver¹s License is essential.
 
3.             Basic oral and written communication and numeracy skills
 
4.             Basic customer service skills with the ability to provide
accurate and timely advice in a helpful manner, and undertake sales and
telephone enquiries.
 
5.             Ability to work cooperatively, safely and ethically in a team
environment.
 
6.             Ability to consistently follow set practices and procedures.
 
7.             Ability to follow guildelines and perform a broad range of
basic administrative tasks including routine reception duties and answering
telephones and forwarding messages.
 

Key Relationships
·               Reports to the KickArts Business Development Manager
·               Internal liaisons ­ KickArts Board Of Directors, other
KickArts staff, Artists, support staff, volunteers and other Centre of
Contemporary Arts tenants
·               External liaisons ­ Artists, patrons to the galleries,
program participants, all three levels of government officers, industry and
business associates
 
 
Terms of Employment
 
Accountable to the Director for duties associated with KickArts and general
performance of duties.  Overall accountability is to the KickArts Board of
Directors.
 
Employment Conditions
The position is a full time position.  The appointee is subject to the
satisfactory completion of a 6-month probation period.  The terms and
conditions of employment will be outlined in the KickArts Contract of
Employment.  The successful applicant will be one who is willing to learn,
study and work as a team player to promote the objectives of KickArts and
their creative programs.
 
 
Terms Of The Position
Position:                       Full time 38 hours per week, 8.30am to 5pm
with a 1 hour rest period five days per week, with some rostering over week
ends in support of the program generally
Responsible To: Director
Salary:                          In line with award rates for a training
position including superannuation
 
Leave
·              4 weeks annual leave
·              10 days sick leave
·              Public holidays independent of annual leave
·              Four weeks notice required.
