Cultural Collection Officer

 

Glenelg Shire Council invites applications from suitably qualified,
enthusiastic and committed people, for a full-time Cultural Collection
Officer.

 

The Cultural Collection Officer will be required to coordinate
management of the Councils Cultural Collection, through implementation
of the Cultural Collection Five-Year Strategic Plan and to undertake
curatorial responsibilities when and where appropriate, to publicly
promote and display particular items and/or themes relevant to the
Cultural Collection.

 

Ideally applicants will possess the following qualifications and
expertise:

 

* Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or relevant skills and
experience in a museum/gallery setting.

* Cataloguing and curatorial skills and experience, plus an
understanding of the broad principles of museum conservation and
management.

* Initiative and an ability to work with minimum supervision.

* Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Power
Point.

* Experience with the InMagic software catalogue system or an equivalent
would be highly desirable.

* Ability to effectively liaise with Council staff and members of the
local community.

* Good verbal, written and strategic planning skills.

* A current driver's licence.
