[can-exhibitions] A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUR GALLERY

WANTED:  Regional galleries that are interested in programming a dynamic
exhibition of new artworks created by five of Australia's best young
artists who live and work regionally.

 

Come on the scene is an exhibition is curated by Jeff Khan and Tamara
Marwood from Next Wave, Australia's leading festival for young artists
and arts workers which presents a broad range of contemporary art
practices to a national audience.

 

The works are quite unlike any other featured in current touring
exhibitions. They are cutting edge and are made by young people - they
will resonate with youth audiences. A range of audience development
initiatives to attract young people to host galleries will be designed
in consultation with gallery staff. The Exhibition Curators will come
and work with local gallery staff prior to the exhibition to create
youth networks in each community in association with the exhibition. 

 

For your usual audiences these works may appear to be difficult,  but
there are a multitude of gateways for everyone to access and enjoy the
exhibition. Signage, publications and promotions will be carefully
prepared to invite a range of audiences to appreciate and enjoy these
works. As with all NETS Victoria exhibitions, the presentation and
display systems for Come on the scene will be extremely well resolved
and highly finished and will be fully inclusive in the exhibition fee.

 

We want to collaborate with galleries interested in being brave and
programming this exhibition. We believe it will have fantastic rewards
for your gallery and your audiences.

 

The exhibition will tour nationally in 2009 and we are currently
preparing a Visions of Australia application. We are wanting to work
with a selection of public galleries in New South Wales, South Australia
and Western Australia.
