Touring Exhibitions Available from M&GSQ

For galleries now planning their 2007 and 2008 programs, several new
innovative and contemporary art exhibitions have been listed in the M&GSQ¹s
latest issue of Update.

Commencing 2007
Indulgence is an exhibition of woven works using non-traditional materials
by Kay Faulkner. The benefits of spoiling oneself and using wrappers for
wraps are explored and found in Indulgence. Sumptuous purple chocolate
wrappers have been stripped and woven together with plush, dark brown fibres
to become wearable wraps.

Sites of Convergence is a series of 18 large-scale colour photographic works
by Sunshine Coast based artist Jo-anne Duggan. These imposing works focus on
the interior architecture of public buildings significant to Italian
communities both in Italy and Australia. The images in Sites of Convergence
explore the sites of public assembly and places where people converge or
come together.

Commencing 2008
Intimate Transactions is an immersive and interactive installation produced
by the Transmute Collective, an interdisciplinary team of artists and
researchers comprising Dr Keith Armstrong, Lisa O¹Neill and Guy Webster.
This challenging installation allows two people in geographically separate
spaces to interact simultaneously using only their bodies and a purpose
designed physical interface called a Bodyshelf. These interactions result in
a sophisticated visual, auditory and tactile ecology in which the user
becomes aware of their impact on the virtual environment.

Antarctica, A Place in the Wilderness is a series of photographic works by
Judy Parrott exploring the environment of Antarctica and life on Australian
research stations. This work was developed from an Arts Fellowship with the
Australian Antarctic Division. The exhibition also includes found objects
(collected with a permit), materials provided by the Australian Antarctic
Division and a collaged audio recording.

More touring exhibitions can be found in issue 33 of Update, downloadable
from View Attachment or
