are already leading mysterious double lives, but are Online Virtual Worlds
an over-hyped Web 2.0 bubble or the Next Big Thing? This exciting hands-on
workshop introduces Second Life and provides a framework for understanding
its potential impacts on our life and work. The workshop focuses on the
creation of personal avatars, how to navigate and explore Second Life
safely, and practical management issues any organisation should consider
before setting up a presence in an Online Virtual World.

in Perth, Western Australia. She is part of the team managing the Australian
collaborative libraries blog, librariesinteract.info and is caretaking the
Australian Libraries Building on Cybrary City in Second Life. Kathryn is the
author of the influential Librarians Matter blog (librariansmatter.com) and
frequently presents on how libraries can find a place for new Web
technologies, including Online Virtual Worlds, blogging and other social
software.
