[Apologies for duplication] ALIA and CAVAL are proud to present DISASTER PLANNING FOR CULTURAL COLLECTIONS - a one day workshop presented by KIM MORRIS, AICCM Conservator of the Year 2006. HOBART, Tuesday 27th May, 9.30 am - 4.30 pm: Christ College Conference Room, Accommodation Services, College Road, University of Tasmania (Sandy Bay). A course recommended for managers and staff responsible for cultural collections in libraries, museums, art galleries and archives that do not have a current Disaster Response Plan. The course presents a strategic approach to developing an effective Disaster Response Plan and sets the plan in the context of practical risk management. A broken water pipe can cause as much damage to a valuable cultural collection as a serious flood or cyclone. Is your organisation prepared? ALIA members receive special discount price of $354.30 (GST inc). Course price includes training materials, morning and afternoon refreshments, light lunch and certificate of attendance. For more information and to register online, visit http://www.caval.edu.au/course-description.html?CID=168 This program provides the foundation for MANAGING DISASTER RESPONSE AND RECOVERY IN CULTURAL COLLECTIONS, a practical one day program also presented by Kim Morris for CAVAL and featuring a simulated disaster scenario. HOBART, Wednesday 28th May, 9.30 am - 4.30 pm: Studio Theatre, Dobson Road, University of Tasmania (Sandy Bay). Details are available at http://www.caval.edu.au/course-description.html?CID=161 Previous participants have said... "It was all new material for me so I found it extremely fascinating and engaging.
