Framing the Future: Planning for Sustainability

Museums & Galleries NSW and Armidale and Region Aboriginal Cultural
Centre and Keeping Place Inc. (ACCKP)

A workshop highlighting the importance of planning in creating
sustainable museums and introducing a wide range of planning techniques
and tools to assist museums, Keeping Places, galleries and other
cultural businesses survive - and thrive.

 

Keynote Speaker:

*	Hugo Leschen (Acting Deputy Director General, Arts NSW) - "Plans
are nothing, planning is everything"

 

Supporting Speakers:

*	Michael Grieve (Regional Manager for Northern and Central NSW,
AusIndustry: Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources) - How to
keep plans alive
*	Kent Mayo (Museum Director, Uralla Historical Society
[McCrossins Mill Museum]) - Case study: Run of the Mill? You've got to
be joking?
*	Sue Valis (Project Officer/ Conservator, Australian Museum) -
Sustainable conservation of cultural collections
*	Peter White (Indigenous Cultural Development Officer, Arts NSW)
- Case study: An insight into successful and innovative Keeping Places
*	Daisy William (Director, Armidale and Region Aboriginal Cultural
Centre and Keeping Place Inc.) - Financial management: How to plan ahead
to ensure your cultural business is financially sustainable

 

Special evening event at ACCKP (Thursday 18 October, 5.30pm onwards): 

Framing the Future delegates and the general public are invited to an
evening of bush tucker food, performance and an exhibition by local
Aboriginal artists Adam Spencer and Debra Walford. This is an
opportunity to socialise and relax before the workshop, to meet the
artists and enjoy the hospitality and facilities of the Keeping Place.
