The Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation at the University of
Melbourne is presenting a Symposium on the Care and Conservation of Middle
Eastern Manuscripts,  which will take place from 26 to 28 November, 2007.
The symposium will explore the materials and techniques of Middle Eastern
manuscripts and address cultural sensitivities related to display,
handling, storage, conservation treatment and use of Middle Eastern
manuscript collections. There are also two related workshops taking place
after the symposium. They are:

- Practical Master Class for conservators and bookbinders, Preventive and
interventive conservation of Islamic Manuscripts, 3-4 December. Presented
by David Jacobs (British Library)

- Indo-Persian Painting Workshop, 3-7 December. Presented by Anita Chowdry
