Public Culture Program, Research School of the

 > Anna Edmundson, Senior Curator, Aboriginal and 
Torres Strait Islander Program, National Museum of Australia.
 > Chair ­ Stephen Zagala, Research School of Humanities, ANU.

Wed 30 May – From Harmony to Antiphony: The 
Aboriginal Presence in the New Portrait Gallery of Canada
 > Ruth Phillips, Canada Research Chair and 
Professor of Art History at Carleton University, Ottawa.
 > Chair ­ Andrew Sayers, Director, National Portrait Gallery, Canberra (tbc).
 > Introductions ­ Howard Morphy, Director of the

Wed 4 July – The Role of Cultural Activities in Public Diplomacy

 > Chair ­ Tina Baum, Curator, Aboriginal and 
Torres Strait Islander Art, National Gallery of Australia.

Tues 2 Oct – Colonial Museums and Identities: Imperial, National, Civic, Ethnic
 > John M. MacKenzie, Professor Emeritus at the 
University of Lancaster, and currently affiliated 
to the universities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, St Andrews and Stirling.
 > Chair ­ Mathew Trinca, General Manager, 
Collections and Content Division, National Museum of Australia.

Time / Venue: Unless otherwise stated, sessions 
are 12.30-1.45 in the Theatrette, Old Canberra 
House, ANU. Old Canberra House is located on the 
ANU campus, the first building on the left as you 
drive up the hill from the roundabout at the 
National Museum. See
