Importance is placed on the concepts and ideas which inform their work and in the gallery space the work is presented in such a manner as to recreate for the viewer a sense of visiting each artist's studio. Hence the experience is intended to be a more detailed and intimate reading of the works. By coming into contact with the artists' own private collections of ephemera and artefacts, we discover some extraordinary items such as a Grecian urn dated 300BC and the remains of a ceramic teapot which originated from the First Fleet. We also find a dilly bag made from recycled plastic; a rocking horse bound for the rubbish tip; animal bones from the Southern Simpson Desert and treasures amongst items washed up on shorelines. Notes, photographs, journals, diaries and references to classical literature and scientific data are evidence of the artists' exploratory journeys which have led them to produce artists' books as collectable items within their wider artistic practices.
