From the Artspace Mackay website: FOCUS ON ARTISTS BOOKS Artspace Mackay holds one of the most comprehensive collections of Artist's Books in Australia, something we are very proud of. To celebrate Artspace Mackay has held three Artists’ Book Forums. Focus on Artists’ Books I, II and III have been incredibly successful conferences. The last forum, included an International conference, an exhibition by Melbourne artists Angela Cavilieri and the exhibition of the 1st Australian Artists' Books Prize, The Libris Awards. Following the success of the first three forums, Artspace Mackay will hold a series of biennial Australian Artists' Books Forums to coincide with the Libris Awards. Forums will include exhibitions and events to stimulate critical dialogue about artists' books and the book arts in Australia, providing professional development opportunities for artists working in the field and generating broader awareness of the artform within our region and internationally. We are already hard at work planning for the fourth forum, Focus On Artists’ Books IV and The Libris Awards, both due to be held in Mackay in February 2008. Between forums the Artists’ Book collection continues to grow and Meet the Collection* days occur on the first Sunday of each month, giving access to the books to the community. Michael Wardell, Director Artspace Mackay welcomes abstracts on potential papers by interested parties for Focus On Artists’ Books IV. Artspace Mackay is also happy to host special Artists’ Book viewings to groups, with at least two weeks notification. *Meet the Collection days showcase a monthly selection of Artists’ Books from the Collection in the Tate Adams Reading room, bookings are preferred.
